Mumbai keeps everyone busy, which makes it easy for a social life to quietly shrink without anyone noticing. The colleagues who used to fill your week, the school-gate crowd, the people who were just always around, a lot of that thins out over time. For more ideas, see our guide to things to do in Mumbai.
What can be improved?
Marzi runs meetups across Mumbai for active adults over 50 who want to do something about that. Small groups, good venues, people at a similar stage of life.
This is for people who know what they enjoy and want plans worth showing up for. Working professionals, recently retired adults, people who have lived in Mumbai for decades and people who moved here later in life. The common thread is wanting more from this chapter, not a particular background.
When everyone in the room is at a similar stage of life, conversation does not need a warm-up. The pace suits everyone, and the things that matter right now are things the person next to you already understands without explanation.
Coffee meetups and casual evenings where meeting people is the point. The easiest place to start, and where a lot of longer friendships in the Mumbai community began.
Creative sessions and cultural evenings where the activity gives the time structure and the conversation takes care of itself. More formats are being added as the Mumbai community grows.
Evenings out are popular too: see karaoke in Mumbai and our pick of night out places in Mumbai.
Marzi meetups in Mumbai currently run regularly in Bandra and the western suburbs. More neighbourhoods will be added as the community grows. The locality is listed on every event card so you can find something close to you.

Start with whatever sounds least like effort. A coffee meetup if you want something easy, a walk if you want to be outdoors.
Click through to the event page and register directly. It takes under a minute. If nothing fits right now, use the show interest option and the Marzi team will reach out when something new is confirmed near you.
You can also WhatsApp the team directly.
That is it. Most people who come to one meetup in Mumbai end up at another one soon after.
Anyone over 50 who lives in or around Mumbai. Working, semi-retired or fully retired, it does not matter.
